Mental Health Check-up

Whether or not you are new to the field or well into your career, HART Centre for Psychology is designed to help you be proactive about and take charge of your mental health. We offer baseline assessments of mental health, as well as appointments to have “mental health check-ups,” similar to an annual physical exam or semi-annual dental cleanings. We provide this proactive service to trauma exposed professionals including police, paramedics, firefighters and fire investigations, emergency services call-takes/dispatchers/communicators, correctional employees/probation and parole officers, other public safety personnel, military members, health care provider, as well as retirees of these professionals and their families. We have specific training and experience to understand the unique challenges and culture of your profession and we know how to provide the support you need to help maintain wellness.

Benefits of proactive “mental health check-ups” include:

  • Acquire a baseline assessment of psychological functioning

  • Learn and maintain healthy coping strategies
  • Decrease unhelpful coping styles and avoid common “pitfalls”
  • Identify challenges and difficulties early
  • Develop rapport and trust with a clinician to have support to turn to during or after difficult times
