Support for First Responder’s Family & Friends

If you are a partner, family member or friend of a current or former first responder, military member or veteran, we understand that the demands of their job can take a toll on you, which is why we offer services to help provide you with support. In particular, if you are a partner or a loved one of a current or former first responder with PTSD or other mental health difficulty, you play a critical role in supporting them in their journey of recovery. We know that living with a family member with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and/or alcohol/substance issues can lead to stress, confusion, frustration, fear, and worry. You may be confronted with changes in your loved one’s behavior such as mood swings, emotional detachment or irritability and anger. It can be difficult to understand and cope with these changes.

At HART Centre for Psychology, we provide individual support and resources to partners and/or family members of first responders to help with the following:

  • Adjustment to service life and the demands of your partner’s job

  • Communication and interpersonal issues

  • Feeling shut out by your partner/service member

  • Unsure how to help when you know something isn’t right

  • Looking after yourself when trying to support your partner/service member

  • Stress of adjusting to a new town/location

  • Understanding PTSD and ways to support your loved one in their recovery

HART Centre for Psychology is proudly affiliated with and extends support to the following organizations:
